At Aiken Elementary, we care about our students!

Aiken Elementary is currently implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. The Olweus Bully Prevention Program is designed to prevent and reduce bullying behavior school-wide.  A Bully Prevention Committee was established this past fall and trained by an official Olweus trainer from Saluda, SC. The Bully Prevention Committee then trained all faculty and staff this past January. Aiken Elementary launched the program in the middle of February with two parent launch evenings. The events provided the opportunity for Aiken Elementary faculty and staff to introduce the program to parents. Students have been gradually introduced to the program through classroom guidance lessons and classroom meetings held every Tuesday.

The Olweus Bully Prevention Program is a school-wide program that is used in all classrooms. The Bully Prevention Committee oversees the program. Through this program, Aiken Elementary has established four anti-bullying rules and a definition for bully behavior. The definition and rules are followed school-wide.

School Anti-Bullying Rules
1. We will not bully others.
2. We will try to help students who are bullied.
3. We will try to include students who are left out.
4. If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
